A mother of four is struggling to contain her grief as she battles to explain why her 4-year-old daughter, Mia, is constantly biting her nails and refusing to take her medication.
Mia is an allergic to bleach and the daily rinsing of her hands with a hose washes off her hands.
“She has a bad temper,” said her mother, Rachel, 43.
“I don’t think she will ever be able to hold her own in a fight.
She’s very emotional and has no sense of boundaries.”
Rachel has been working with Mia’s parents on a program for children who suffer from allergic reactions to bleach.
She said that after hearing about Mia’s struggles, she decided to make a video to show her daughter what not to do.
“It’s very important that Mia doesn’t ever touch the bleach again,” Rachel said.
The video shows Mia repeatedly biting her fingers.
She can also be heard saying, “I hate bleach, I hate it, I can smell it.
I hate you, you disgusting thing.”
The parents are trying to educate Mia about what the chemicals do to her body and why she should avoid them.
“The bleach does so much damage to the body and you’re not going to be able for the rest of your life to wash it off,” Rachel explained.
“You’ll just be throwing it away.
You’ll be throwing away the bleach for the next few days.”
“You can’t let her get her hands on it because she’ll destroy it and then she’ll burn herself.”
Rachel said she hopes that the video will encourage Mia to use bleach and to take it off her body at home.
“I hope she understands that bleach can be dangerous,” she said.

“When we found out Mia was allergic to the bleach, we decided to do something to educate her,” Rachel told Al Jazeera.
“We made a video, we put a video on Facebook and we have a Facebook group where we have people posting about it.”
We also got a lot of positive feedback, so we hope it will be enough to change her mind and she’ll think twice about this.
“It’s not easy.
We are not doctors, we’re just a family.
We’re doing this because we love Mia, but we don’t have the resources or the means to do it.”
Mia has been tested three times by a paediatrician and once by a nurse.
The third test revealed that she had been diagnosed with anaphylactic shock.
“She’s an allergic child, so she’s allergic to everything,” Rachel added.
“And I know that because she has been in the hospital with me a few times.
We have to wash her hands and wash her with bleach at least once a day, because she’s not getting enough water from the shower.”
In order to help Mia avoid bleach, the family decided to use a “piggy bank” to wash the bleach off of their daughter’s hands.
“Mia’s been using a piggy bank to wash bleach off her nails, so that’s how she got it,” Rachel continued.
“She’s been doing that for months now and she’s still getting sick.
We’ve had two kids, one with a food allergy and the other with a dermatological condition, so the problem has been with both of them.”
Now that Mia is allergic, we just can’t wash her.”‘
As soon as she came out, we started washing her hands, but she didn’t want to take any bleach, so I asked her what bleach is. “
That’s when we went to get a bucket,” she explained.
“As soon as she came out, we started washing her hands, but she didn’t want to take any bleach, so I asked her what bleach is.
She said, ‘I don, I don’t want bleach.
I want a sponge.’
I said, okay, we can do that.
Then we got her a sponge and washed her hands.”
But Mia did not stop biting her nail and refusing her medication and was in and out of the hospital for two days.
“That was really scary, because I had been told that if Mia had been allergic to something, she wouldn’t have been in that condition,” Rachel lamented.
I had to get my hands off her because she’d be coming out of it, Rachel explained, “but she didn’s have any way of washing it off.
I was so worried, because
